Scaffold access to facilitate new roof hatches being installed in multiple locations
We have completed several collaborative tasks with Inspired Safety Solutions. This commercial scaffolding project required extra thinking due to the location of the various scaffolds. These were, for the most part, located above the entrance/exit doors to the building.
Various site safety meetings were held to ensure that the client was comfortable with the phased plan of the scaffold build. We agreed that the main conservatory at the entrance to the building should be completely covered to protect the glass and anyone within the conservatory as there were to be three large scaffold towers nearby. Protection from potential dropped objects was key. Large fans and window hatches weighing approximately 100kg were to be hoisted up above it. Therefore safety as always, was of paramount importance.
Further complexities to these scaffold towers were present as the buildings in the front courtyard were over-clad in a non-ferrous metal sheet. This meant that we could not tie the scaffold to the building. Instead, we were required to use buttresses to offset lateral forces. Further to the scaffold 300m of edge protection was applied in various locations to provide safe walkways for the teams working.
We look forward to working with Inspired Life Safety Solutions and Unite Students on further projects through 2024 and beyond.
